B.Sc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance


The Accounting and Finance degree allows students to combine an in-depth knowledge of accounting and finance with opportunities to gain a broader insight into business and management. Following a broad introduction to accounting and management subjects in the first year, the second year modules develop their knowledge and introduce new topics.
The second year involves the study of nine core accounting and accounting-related modules and three other modules. Core modules include: financial accounting; management accounting; taxation and personal finance; economic of industry; financial management; company law and administration; practice of management skill.

The final year offers a range of modules, with particular focus on strategic, international and contemporary issues in accounting and finance. It involves the study of six core accounting and accounting-related modules and six other modules. These core modules are; corporate reporting and global accounting; capital markets, investment and finance; electronic commerce; contemporary issues in accounting; international finance and strategic accounting and management control.
The non-core modules will be chosen from the remaining management modules currently available to Business and Management Studies degree or the Marketing degree if one's preferences change.

The Accounting and Finance degree course offers good preparation for students considering a move into accounting, financial management, the financial services sector, and wider management positions after graduation.
