Business and Management Studies

Our Business and Management Studies course provides students with an awareness of the broad range of knowledge required in modern management, and equips them with specialized knowledge to tailor the degree to meet their own individual needs and career plans. The course aims at developing the analytical and behavioral skills students require to make effective use of knowledge after graduation.

In the first year students study twelve modules, this gives them a sound grounding in the disciplines required for a modern manager. In the second year there is a compulsory module called Practice of Management Skills . In addition, in the second and final years they choose modules, enabling them to construct either a broad degree package covering all areas of management activity, or a slightly more specialized degree focusing on particular management specialization, such as human resource management, business information systems, or operations management.

Modules include accounting, financial management, marketing, psychology, production/operations management, human resource management, and the more quantitative aspects of information management and business information systems. There are also multidisciplinary modules on subjects such as international business, and strategic management, which integrate knowledge from many disciplines.
