Company Visits Write up – Last Academic Year – 2016-17

Company visits form an integral part of the Swiss Business School curriculum. Groups of students visit various companies and get the chance to interact with employees of different departments. They gain understanding of how the departments work and also how they differ from industry to industry.


Semester 1

Country Inn & Suites –

The students of Stage- 1 went for a company visit to Country Inn and Suites (A Carlson Property).Students were briefed on the different departments in a hotel, Food & Beverage Service, Food & Beverage Production, Front Office, Housekeeping along with other ancillary departments like Sales, Banquets etc. They were given a detailed perspective on how the different departments work along with the procedure to take bookings till the final bill is settled for the guests.

HDFC Bank 

Students visited the HDFC bank at Anand Niketan. It’s an important module as it gives an industry perspective of the finance modules being taught in class. The students were given an overview of  the various processes followed in the banking sector like digital banking, fundamentals of banking, High Net worth Individuals, Process for loan, and the software used at HDFC to name a few.

ITC Sheraton Saket

Students went for a company visit to Sheraton hotel at Saket, They were taken to the Learning & Development Room, and were given a detailed presentation on the operational aspects of the hotel. Thereafter, they were taken for a departmental visit of all the core areas in a hotel. It’s an important module as it gives an industry perspective of the modules being taught in class. The visit was linked to Marketing, Finance, and HR.

Parle Biscuit at Bahadurgarh.

Students visited the Parle Biscuit factory .It was a fruitful visit as the students were explained the various products of Parle in the form of a presentation and a detailed visit of the factory explaining the various processes of biscuit making.

Pepsi Bottling Plant – Greater Noida

At the Pepsi plant, a plant tour was conducted for the students where it was explained how the bottling and canning processes is done along with their assembling procedure.

Ambience Mall – Gurgaon

The students of BBA program went for a visit to Ambience Mall, Gurgaon.

The students were lectured by Mr Manas Sahani, Head, Mall Operations and two of his associates who handle the loyalty management and customer relations. They were briefed about the mall operations, logistics, placement of various brands, upcoming brands, loyalty management, offers, the Ambience group etc.

The students were able to relate to the concepts they have learnt in Marketing & Strategic Marketing modules.


Semester 2
Honda Cars at Bhiwadi

The students were received at the Admin building, by the business planning head and were taken for a Corporate Presentation, about Honda Cars its Inception and their values. It was followed by tea and snacks.

The students were then taken for lunch at the Honda Canteen followed by a two hour plant visit.

The plant visit was a detailed one showing the step by step process of how cars are manufactured. Throughout the visit two managers accompanied us showing and briefing us about the processes. This plant has a capacity to manufacture 490 cars per day. The students were particularly interested in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics used to manufacture cars.

Post the plant visit, the students were treated to an elaborate high tea and were asked for any feedback/ suggestions so that next time it can be a better experience.

The students were able to relate to the concepts they have learnt in Project Management and Sales.

Le Meridian – Hotel

The students were received at the Training & Development room, by the Head of Learning & Development Centre and the Manager- HR and were given a Corporate Presentation, about Le Meridian Hotels, its inception, its association with Marriott brand and its values, guest facilities.

The students were particularly interested in its association with the Marriott brand, asked questions on how the hotel deal with competition, innovation in Hotels does and what does it take for a guest to become a loyalist with the Marriott chain.

Post the presentation, the students were taken for a short tour of the various departments in the hotel.

The students were able to relate to the concepts they have learnt in Sales Management and Economics as well as Communication.

DLF Promenade at Vasant Kunj.

The students of stage 1 & 2 of BBA program went for a company visit to DLF Promenade at Vasant Kunj.

The students were briefed by the Mall Management Head along with the Marketing Head of DLF Promenade who explained the students about the concept of single owned and rent leased malls. They were explained the location of brands at the mall and the various promotional activities undertaken at the mall. They also offered to take the students for a mall walk to understand the positioning of the brands at various floors. The students were able to relate to the concepts they have learnt in Marketing, like brand positioning, price mix, STP etc.

Car Dekho

Company Visit at Car Dekho (E Commerce Sector) at their corporate office in Gurgaon. Students were briefed by the management on the various business verticals of Car Dekho.com, BikeDekho.com, and CarBay.com.

Students were informed through a presentation about the end to end solutions on the buying and value of new and used cars, their sales and marketing strategies, especially digital marketing and how the customer is made to feel valued through the apps which have been launched to guarantee customer satisfaction.
