Industrial visit to C&C Infrastructure Industry , Greater Noida organized for UBS Stage 1 - OIS students

On Friday, 25th Feb, 2011 a visit to C&C Infrastructure Head office, Greater Noida was organised  in which UBS students participated with enthusiastic passion.The visit aimed at developing student knowledge and awareness on various types of Information Systems (ERP, MIS etc.) adopted at C & C Infrastructure. click for full report

 

 

 

Guest Lecture organized on “IS Development and Methodology - A Practitioner's Perspective" for UBS Stage-1 OIS students
On Monday 28th Feb, 2011 Mr. Arup Roy, Senior IT Consultant, CyberQ Consulting Pvt Ltd. had successfully got the students involved in his hour long lecture on “IS Development and Methodology.

 

 

 

Industrial visit to Pepsico (Varun Beverages (p) Ltd. ) , Greater Noida " for UBS stage 1 students

On April 1 , 2010 , UBS Stage 1 students visited  PepsiCo plant (Varun Beverages) in Greater Noida to understand the work process & culture of an MNC and also  to understand  the entire bottling process from the first stage of Preformmaking to blowing of the bottle till the last stage viz. packaging & storage.

Dr Shashi Tharoor receives the Fifth IILM Distinguished Global Thinker Award, 2010

IILM Institute for Higher Education hosted its Distinguished Global Thinker Award at Lodhi Road campus on March 5, 2010. The award was conferred on Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for External Affairs. On the occasion, Dr. Tharoor gave a special lecture on 'Challenges of Global Governance: An Indian Perspective'

IILM instituted The Global Thinker Award in 2006 to get engaged with the global academic community as well as to provide a forum for policy debate on issues of international importance. The institute initiates an annual award to honour an internationally reputed leader for his/her academic achievements.

Welcoming the distinguished gathering, Ambassador K V Rajan, Converor, IILM India Forum remarked," I would like to say that this is the fifth in the series of Distinguished Global Thinkers Awards instituted by IILM. So, this is a lecture to which we attach a great importance and we are very pleased and priviledged that Dr. Shashi Tharoor has agreed to accept this award from IILM and also to deliver this special lecture".

The first award was given in 2006 to Prof. Lord Bhiku Parekh who is a political theorist. He delivered a lecture on 'Is Democracy Exportable?' . In 2007 the award was conferred to Prof. MS Swaminathan, Indian Agriculture Scientist who spoke on 'Achieving a Hunger Free India: The Challenges before us'. Subsequently in 2008 Prof. C. K. Prahlad, Management Consultant, Author and Distinguished Professor of Corporate Strategy at the University of Michingan, Ross School of Business was honoured. He gave a lecture on 'Democratizing Commerce: The Challenge for the 21st Century'. Last year, in 2009, Lord Meghnad Desai was bestowed with this award and he gave a speech on 'Our Troubled Times'.

Cricket Match held between PGP and UBS students on 13th March 2010

IILM Lodhi Road Campus hosted its first cricket match of the session between PGP and UBS students on Saturday 13th March 2010. Both the teams reported on the ground on time and were looking energetic and enthusiastic. It was 15 overs a side match .Ajit Srivastava and Sunny Sachdeva captain of PGP and UBS teams respectively came for the toss. PG students won the toss and choose to bowl first.

Students gathered to the ground as spectators to cheer their respective teams. Everything was in place and match started at the scheduled time. The wind was blowing across the field which gave respite to both the teams as it was bit hot at the time match started.

All UBS team members were in black T-shirts for the match . They started their innings with Shivam and Tarun playing cautiously but soon lost their way as 4 wickets fell in quick succession. The fifth pair looked to settle down but the partnership was broken in 7th over and lost another couple of wickets thereafter. The innings finally folded in 11th over for a partly total of 53.Gagan was the pick of bowlers with highest wickets.

PG team started their innings and both the openers Vivek and Danish looked in great form. They struck boundary and a six in the very first over and couple of extras were also conceeded and UBS almost lost the way. PG students hit the winning runs in the 4th over and won by 9 wickets.

It was a good start to sports activities as the match was played in very friendly manner and in true spirits of the game. Both the teams shook hands at the end of match and complemented each other.
