IILM organizes Confluence'10 on April 16

CONFLUENCE 2010

The event Confluence 2010 was born entirely out of students’ initiative and ideas. The student community of IILM, drawn from the undergraduate and postgraduate programs put their best foot forward in terms of organizational and creative skills to ensure success of the event.

Confluence was held on the 16th of April at the Lodhi Road campus. The idea was born out of the need to showcase the talents of our students. Our prospective students were also invited to be a part of the event to have a bird’s eye view of the campus life at IILM.

The event hosted, among many others, a business quiz competition and an extempore competition. Diptanshu Sharma of Stage 2, UBS was the very eloquent quiz master who hosted the show with his usual élan and of alacrity. Seven teams, in all participated and the teams represented both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The team comprising of Ankit Arora and Sohail Dhir, representing the UBS (Undergraduate Business School) won the prize for the Best Team.

It was indeed heartwarming to see the response for the extempore. The topics were wide and varied, ranging from politics to sports to social issues. Aditya Nayan from UBS and Raunaq Nahata from PGP tied for the Best Speaker.
The action thereafter shifted to the auditorium which was the venue for hosting the plays a great deal and the dance performances. The UBS students performed a play “Kambakht Ishq”, a light romantic comedy which had the audience in splits. The main characters were essayed by Tania Israni, Harshna Sethi, Neha Singh, Akib Aijaz Chhaya, Apaar Julka and Rujhan.
This light romantic comedy was followed by more serious stuff. The postgraduate students put together a play with a strong social content and message. The play titled “Mitali” took the audience through the trials and travails of a mentally challenged young girl, which bought tears to many a eye in the audience.
The students put together an amazing fashion show, choreographed most effectively by the students themselves. The students who participated in the fashion show included Tania Israni, Madhav Bal, Harshul Khanna, Akib Aijaz, Kriti Murgai, Krity Sharma, Prateek Gupta, Sakshi Mehra, Natasha Dang, Raunaq Singh, Varnika Arora, Apaar Julka, Rumit Khullar and Karishma Malhotra

Then it was time for more fun and frolic for the audience at large. The audience was entertained with two astounding dance performances. The undergraduate students’ team represented by Tania Israni, Kriti Murgai, Nimrit Narula, Raghav Bajaj and Sakshi Mehra did a medley comprising of Hip Hop and Bollywood dance number to the tune of popular numbers. This was followed by the postgraduate students who effectively put together another medley dance to the tune of popular numbers.

There was yet more activity on the front lawns of the campus. Shutterbugs, the photographic society of IILM put together a very interesting exhibition of all the photographs clicked by their members. They offered interesting options to the audience by selling them personalized mugs, cushion covers, key chains which would have their pictures. Interesting and creative indeed!
In all, a truly exhilarating day.. It does require a truly motivated and committed student body to put forth a show of this magnitude and splendor. Photos
