MUSIC AND DANCE SOCIETY
The Music and dance Society - cultural club of UBS - IILM aims at promoting the creativity and talent of the students, and sensitizing them towards the rich and diverse culture of our country.
It conducts various intra-college and inter-college events, where participants showcase their talents and compete for attractive prizes. Club has been regularly organising various events and competitions in performing arts – like singing, dancing, dramatics – as well as arts and crafts, painting and the like. Besides these, it also organizes cultural evenings and interactions with dance or music exponents.
Activities organised by the club:
Zest: Combination of 6 different competitions over 2 days - solo singing, solo instrument playing, group dance competition, debate, quiz and extempore. Organised in September-October every year
Food Festival: A delightful collection of cuisines from many countries was presented during the Food Festival organised as a part of i-fest, IILM's annual festival, in December 2009
Punjabi culturl evening: Organized to mark the Lohri festival. Students and faculty members enjoy around the cosy bonfire with folk music and popcorn
T-shirt Painting and Collage Making Competitions: Organised to add colour to Holi – participants depicted myriad colours of India on T-shirts and collages focussed on the 'reel-vs-real' dilemma.
Odissi Dance performance: In collaboration with Spic Macay in the month of November. Famous Odissi dancer Shrimati Sujata Mishra gave a beautiful dance recital to the students of IILM. The brilliant performance and interactive session with Shrimati Mishra was much appreciated by all present.
Dance and Theatre workshops are organised for interested students – these culminate into a Dance / Theatre Festival with performances by students who attended the workshops
Society plans to conduct various activities in 2010. Some of them are Street Play (to be organised in collaboration with the Social Service Club), Antakshari pitting faculty and students against each other and Rangoli making competition
